Thanksgiving

December 6th, 2009

John and Laurie came down from Toronto - it had been a while since they visited - and the Gilbert-Collin's joined us as well. We enjoyed the traditional Thanksgiving feast, but did not indulge in after-dinner watching of football (a tradition). Friday John and I went for a run in Mendon Ponds and later looked to get his car fixed. A strap holding the gas tank on broke as they were coming off of the thru way. After a false start at Cole Muffler we went down to the Dorschell Saab dealer - what a place! Drive into a spotlessly clean tiled service area, quick service and we were on our way in under 2 hours. Polar opposite of the Cole experience. J & L went back to TO Sunday morning - John was flying to California Monday morning.

Visitors from Afar...

November 26th, 2009

My mom and Mr. Benfield visited on November 13-17. We took them to see various attractions in the area - driving around the city, around Lake Canandaigua, to Letchworth State Park and, of course, to Eastview Mall - ooh that Cadillac drives nice! We had a good time - played Sequences (board game), saw a movie at the Dryden theater, toured the Eastman House (ginger bread houses on exhibit) and ate at Mario's.

Transitions - First Post

November 8th, 2009

Well, the blog is installed and I am faced with providing some content... Fall has brought the need for transitions in several areas. I've been commuting by bicycle all summer - actually starting in March - and have clocked a little over 2000 miles. Now with the time change and darkness coming early once again, in the name of safety, I have transitioned back to driving to work - which also means other transitions in routine. I have started running in the morning - only a few days so far which means getting up around 5:15 to be back by 6:30 to get ready for work. I'm still debating if I am only going to do a 10K 3 or 4 mornings a week or alternate these with shorter runs. Then, of course, there is the transition from summer to winter breakfast fare - raisin bran to oatmeal!
